Welcome to Beautiful Alaska
Camai Bed and Breakfast has been warmly welcoming tourists and business travelers to Anchorage, Alaska for FORTY years as of May 2021.
Your hosts, Craig and Caroline Valentine, enjoy sharing almost fifty years of experiences in Alaska with their many visitors. Camai Bed and Breakfast is Anchorage’s oldest operating inn, which is frequently remodeled in order to enhance the guest’s peaceful stay in soothing surroundings. As recent as 2020 solar panels were added to the B&B’s roof. Camai is a Native language word meaning “a warm, genuine hello.” As Caroline explains to guests, “Camai” is to Alaska as “Aloha” is to Hawaii.
Our location in a quiet Anchorage residential neighborhood on Chester Creek is a great home base while visiting Alaska. Moose frequently visit our garden and treat it like their personal breakfast buffet. Fortunately, bears rarely visit our grounds. Bald eagles have been seen on the property.
Camai Bed and Breakfast is a short walk from Alaska Native Medical Center. The University of Alaska, Alaska Pacific University, and Providence Hospital are nearby. Downtown Anchorage is 15 minutes away by car while the airport is less than 20 minutes away.
The bed and breakfast’s large, two-room suites are designed for families or travelers wanting to stretch out and enjoy welcoming accommodations. Each suite offers a private, en-suite bath, queen-size bed, additional bed(s) in its private sitting room, Wi-Fi, satellite TV/DVD, mini-refrigerator, coffee maker, microwave, and private telephone for complimentary local calls. While all bathtubs have grab bars and slip-resistant coatings, the Fireweed Suite provides additional handicap-accessible features. The recent addition of a five-person hot tub makes it even easier to relax after a day of adventure. Our back deck allows warm-weather guests to slow down and enjoy the garden while reliving the day’s events.
Scrumptious full breakfasts are prepared and served in the summer, while an expanded continental breakfast is cooked and served each winter morning.
Business travelers especially enjoy the convenience of the guest office area with computer for checking their e-mail using Wi-Fi.
